What is a good cleaner that I can use in the engine compartment to get rid of all the gunk that has built up? It needs to be something that is safe on painted surfaces as well as good at cleaning the engine.
Thanks,

Go to your auto parts store and look for a foaming engine cleaner and degreaser, I have some but I am at work right now and don't know the name. If you want it I will post it later.
I use Greased Lightning, spray it on , let it sit for a couple of minutes, spray it off, you can just see the dirt roll off! You can get at Lowes.

Hey Dirk, when you say Spray it off, do you use "jet" water to get it off, or just pour water on it? I wanna try it, but I am afraid the water will hurt my engine, will it?

I use Westly's (sp?) bleach-white and a presure washer. As long as you have an enclosed filter and the engine is not hot you should not have to worry aboiut it hurting it.

I use a regular old hose.I would spray the water , pour it on doesn't get everything off.I never had any problems with on my engine. You may want to let everything dry before you start it , or put a plastic bag of the DIS thing.
