Many times the question has come up of what to do with that battery on your 2nd Generation Ranger (89-92). You know there's just endless amount of space under that tray that you could use for your cold air intake, not to mention the fact that there's a hole in the radiator support just below the tray for fresh air. Well to solve this troublesome problem you have the option of moving your battery to where your airbox is (keep in mind that you will be removing your airbox therefore you will need to have some other place from which you can supply air to the intake).

To start with remove your stock airbox (top & bottom)
Under your airbox you will see a flat piece of plastic attached to the fender well, leave this intact, it will be the tray for your battery from now on.

Next go to your local auto store and buy the smallest battery you can make fit in the space you have just opened up.

(***NOTE***) Make sure the battery is a side post battery because top post batteries will hit the hood and cause a short.

(***NOTE***) Also, you want to get a battery with the negative terminal on the left side (if looking directly at the front of the battery) because your negative battery cable won't be long enough to reach the right side when the battery is installed sideways.
Next hook up your battery cables.

(***NOTE***) Put some insulation between the positive battery terminal and the AC Canister, they will short if they touch.

And there you go, there's your solution of putting the battery where the airbox is. It is up to your own creative self to hold the battery in place, although mine fit very snug I used zip strips for a temporary fix.

Remember this is done at your own risk and I nor RangerPowerSports.com is responsible for any damages or accidents. Remember, your dealing with electricity and caution and common sense should be used when attempting this.
