Has anyone swapped out an auto tranny for a manual trans. If you have about how much did you spend and how hard was it? I've got to do something about mine. This auto sucks really bad.

Well, I havent done it yet, but IM going to be swapping in a T-5 into my ranger when I put in the 4.0. Mine had an auto tranny when it had the 2.9 in it.

On your truck it wouldn't be too bad. Find a wrecked one with the 2.3 in it, get the transmission, the clutch bracket and pedal assembly from under the dash, the master cylinder on the front of the firewall, the fluid hose running to the trans, and any other brackets that are holding this stuff in place. You will also need the neutral start safety switch that's on the clutch pedal assembly. It's basically a matter of bolting them all into your truck, and opening the hole in the trans hump. You probably want to get the steering wheel cover off the manual too so you can do away with your auto shift lever. Check the driveshaft length, but I think they are the same.
