Well, its offical, I am on my way to become lower. I guess I have to thank krista from telling me that if she can't see over my truck its not low enough:E

On Friday night I drove to Charlie's(sleepy's) garage and gave him his seat back, and got mine. I also spend 4 to 5 hours with him and Brett working on the Bodydrop. As of 2a.m. Saturday morning, he was hopping his truck. That thing lays flat on the ground and is sweet as all h3ll. I mainly helped out with the wiring, cause as you guys know from last time, I know jack aobut tools.

Anyway, afterward I got Charlie's DJM 2inch Drop Coils, at what I think was a good price. Now I just have a couple of opinions: get a flip kit, flip the hangers, ride getto, or buy lowered leafs. I'm thinking of just getting a flip kit cause it seems simple enough. Just wondeirng if anyone knows of a good place to get some, or anyone thats selling them?

Well, later dudes!

Cool beans!!!! Krista will be proud of you when you're all done.... NOT!!!! :)

If it were me I'd go with a flip kit and then a lifting shackle because the flit kit's going to be to low in the rear. You can pickup a flip kit/bracket from Summit or Stylin Concepts or just keep your eye on the for sale board, they come up all the time. If you need help with the install let Wed or myself know, we can hook you up cheap :). Later Bro!

BTW, here's what you need if you go the flip kit route,
DJM Part# FK3098-3
1998-2002 Ranger 3" Rear Flip Kit w/ Lifting Shackles

Hey, do you know the summit part number? Im thinking since its in ohio, I can save money by picking it up, but i havent had much luck finding a flip kit on the site. Then again, I am totally lost on that site anyway.

I checked out pricing for the DJM and its going to be around 100bucks. I would rather not spend that much, but if i have to I will.

Later!

Don't buy a flip kit!!! Just flip the hanger it's free with a little labor. Why spend money when you don't have to. You'll have to save the cash to help afford the alignment anyway after you put the springs in.

Gerry
May 27 2003, 12:53am
I completely forgot about flipping the hangers,, that's good for approx. 2 1/2" - 2 3/4" and like you said, it's free with a little work. All you need to buy is 8 grade 8 bolts with washer and lock nuts but the rest is free.

All you do Scott is cut off the rear hanger and flip it over, then bolt everything back together. It's not as bad as it sounds. I have pictures of them on my wed page.

ScottG
May 27 2003, 03:16am
Well, i just purchased a flip kit today, so should i cancel my order? Are would it be better to get the flip kit anyway. I have a feeling I will someday go lower, so getting the 3 would help more right? Let me know fast of you opinions.

Thanks
Scott

Freudian slip? You be the judge.

Scott, YES cancel your order. First of all don't ever pay full price for a flip kit, especially when you said its like 100 bucks. Get one used, or just flip the hangers. with a flip kit, you have to buy lifing shackles, another 30 bucks. So dont do it!

lmfao, I'm glad someone else said something before I did about Gerry's WED page.

and clancy, his $100 flip kit included the shackles....but yeah scott, I'd cancel the order. I forgot about flipping the hangers too.

Oh man, Sorry about that Wed, I meant my web page.

Scott, go ahead and cancel the order and just do the hanger flipping. If you wana go lower late on (and you will) you can spend the extra money then :).

Maybe it's cause I'm still pimpin stock height so I don't know, but why would you flip the axle and then bring it back up with new hangers? Does the flip kit drop the rear down too much in proportion to the front or something? Is this a Gen5 phenomina, or will I need to do the same thing if I ever get around to dropping mine?

Basically, a flip kit makes it a 5inch drop, and if you want a 3inch, the best way is to add a lifting shackle to bring the 5 up to a 3.

yeah I originally only had the flip and the coils. Gerry Wed and I put it on (okay, mostly gerry and wed) and my rear bumper was like 5 or 6 inches from the ground. Luckily we ran to stylin and got shackles. Otherwise it would have looked like I was aired out all the time.

well I can't speak for the other NA guys, but I can help. Your truck is set up just like mine. So some of it should look vaguely familiar.

Hopefully.

fukers. I still need to write a letter, hey Gerry, have you gotten anything back yet?

May 27 2003, 01:07pm
Bring it up to Cleveland and we'll have it done in a day, approx. 4-5 hrs depending if everything goes right. It's not that hard, its just time consuming. The hardest part is getting the hangers off…. you need to grind, chisel or drill the rivets out/off. The rest of install just bolts on. I can’t help with the install until the first weekend in July (the 5th). I’m out of town from the 8-22, then we’re helping Eric move on the 28th. Man, time fly’s when your having fun J.

If Wed has time you guys are more then welcome to use my driveway and all my tools. Just work out the time and date with him.

I know its not my place to be offering, but im just throwing an idea on the table. I'll bring some food this time:E

hey G, are you guys coming the 28th (I could still use and appreciate your help, but we'll have to wing it to see if it'd be worth your drive down, if we've got it mostly done)? or was that a typo? I'll be moving in the 27th.

plus, by being only 2 hours away now, I can easily come up for a bbq or just to bug you guys:nuts:

July 4th weekend I think I might be able to do that. I was kind of thinking of going home for that weekend but if there's going to be a get together I could deffintely stick around. It might be somewhat hard to bring all the tools out to your place. We're going to need a whole host of air tools to get those hangers off his truck. But I'd deffinately say your place is probably better suited for such a gathering. Maybe we could do the drop in the morning/early afternoon and than all head out to Clancy's for the remainder of the party?? Just an idea I thought I'd toss out.

WELL roofrack, eric was talking about getting a site together for the ohio guys ie... buckeyecustoms.com.. After this summer, we are going to have alot of pics from these shows and/or Ohio guys meets, drop parties, PnP bashes, BBQ's, etc...

Rather than having them divided amongst 14 people and on various floppy disks and memory cards scattered around the state, we could put them on a site. With links that would say things like:

"Greenville pics", "canfield pics", and "ITB pics", and

"When we royally screwed up scott's truck because we were all drunk and got overzealous with the air tools" pics

Plus we could get some member profiles. maybe a small event board.

Get it now?

Thats cool, sorry, i was just being slow. Is buckeyecustoms.com gonna be the site? Thats a sweet arse name. Oh, and for the "When we royally screwed up scott's truck because we were all drunk and got overzealous with the air tools" pics, is sounds like a good idea, as long as its drivable, cause you know being orignal is pimp:afro:

BTW, buckeyecustoms.com is just something that we were kicking around. I like it too. We'll have to see what everyone (if?) decides on.

The name thing and website thing has been tossed around for a while now. Last I had heard we had some what decided against the buckeyecostums thing due to the fact that it limited our viewers to people in Ohio. There had been some talk about using greatlakescostums.com I did find a costum shop located in Michigan with this same name. But I couldn't find a car club attatched to it.

yeah like I mentioned to G last night we don't really want to make it wide enough so it just becomes a second NA board. If we do that, then whats the point? I mean, the problem I have with the NA board is that you're trying to plan or participate in events and realistically the NA is too big to really have a meet with everyone in the NA from indy to new york.

I thought we just wanted a board so mainly the Ohio guys could talk and plan. The group of people that can logistically make it to some of the events. There won't be anything keepin the guys from indy or michigan off the board if they want to be and can makes some of the events, or anyone else for that matter. But I think it should be focused, or else its useless.
