I just got back from a trip and saw the post on problems removing a fan. I removed my fan when I installed my supercharger (I didn't really have to, just wanted more room to get accurate measurements).
For anyone else who is doing this, as Doug said, if you have a stock setup the fan direction on the fan shroud should be used. I went to the local machine shop and got a piece of 2 1/2" wide, 1/4" thick flat steel 2 feet long (from the scrap bin for free). Then just used a hacksaw to cut a "wrench" opening in the end the width of the nut (1.460") and 1.25" deep. Then I used a small drill bit (1/8") to drill a bunch of close together holes for the top "V" of the wrench opening. PRESTO, a little elbow grease, hacksaw blade and a perfect fan wrench! Then I just put a 2' piece of pipe on the end of my bar with the socket to back the nut off. Man those nuts tighten up!!
The fan wrench works great, its free, and I have already lent it out a few times for other guys to use.
If someone is doing this and wants a picture of it send me an e-mail and I'll insert a picture in the reply ... (I haven't figured out how to put a picture in a reply without a web link. But, I am going to build a web page now that I have space on our local KNOLOGY cable service providers Web server).
I'm also going to put my supercharger install document there. I sent my install document to Sven and he has some comments that he is feeding back to me so I'll get those in the document before I post it again.
Put in the BBK TB and it made a BIG difference, My boost with the 3" pulley is now up to almost 9 pounds. I also changed the shape of the intake since I needed to open it up to match the new BBK's larger diameter anyway. Based on the increase with the large pulley, I could probably get close to 14 pounds with the smaller pulley ... not going to try that until I get the water injection setup installed ... and my other block rebuilt, just in case. I'm going to rebuild my other block with forged pistons and "O" ringed heads and other items that Sven suggested.
Well, have to go and roll up some pavement ...
