I put this in the 4.0 section but not many have an answer. I put my chip in today and now my truck won't start. I have a stock +1 chip. In the stock mode it starts fine. In the Program-1 mode it just turns over and over! I've saved up and finally got it in the mail and now it don't work! I'm so bummed!!:(

All I've learned so far is that my computer may have been reflashed at some point before I bought it.

Maybe disconnect the battery to reset the computer? Just an idea if you haven't done it already.....

broosedamoose- that is all mine did. crank,crank, and crank some more. At first it looks good - then the dissapointment sets in :( . You may have to go to a dealer and get your pcm code read. No biggie - I am sure apten will work with you. :)

What is the definition or examples of a "reflash"? I had my truck "reprogramed" to get a closer match to my 18 inch rims so the speedo and odometer were not as bad. Is that a "reflash"? Thanx!

pwrov1, Yep. I had mine done a couple times and they never told me the new codes. I guess it's ploy the dealers here have cause if you want to know the new code you have to pay $75 for them to hook it up. I tried a superchip and a diablo and neither would work. The folks I ordered from were great CS wise and had no problems taking them back. I might try again later but instead of the chip I got a lowering kit.

Reflashed and Reprogrammed are the same.

Any dealer can hook it up and tell you what the code is. I was told when I was having trouble getting my chip to work that it is illegal to reflash the ecu and not put the new code on the box somewhere. Something to do with emmissions or something. Might want to let the dealer know this expecially if it's the same dealer that reflashed the ecu for you. The dealer here wanted to charge almost $80 to either reflash it and give me the new code or just get the new code. Look into the legal part and maybe it can same you a couple of $.

when i had my 01 flashed by ford they put a sticker under the hood that said ECU modified. it had the tech's name date, and program number right on it. I asked them about the sticker and ford said it was fed. law that when they updated the ECU they had to put down the new program codes for the DMV. so who knows. I do know my codes where updated to the 02 set. I was having problems with my truck stalling everytime i put in reg. gas.

That's what they did with mine except they didn't put any sticker anywhere. I might go to the dealer that did the work(under warenty) and get them to give me the new code but I would like to find something in writing about that fed law. Hey torment1979 do you think your shop and see if they could hook me up.
