i been trying to set up my truck for 2 days since i cleaned lower and upper intake and i cant get it started i had to take distributor out and i figured what the heck ill be able to put it back together but it didnt go as planned so heres what ive done so far

1. set the crank to T|C top dead center i gues its a mark on crank and set rotor towards the no.1 plug on cap

2. set it on another mark unsure which one and i moved the cap around and it wouldnt start anyone have any tips for me 2 days already its killin me

well i got it runnin now i gotta just move it backward or foward a couple teeth
i have the ditrib tfi towards front of engine as far as it goes and it starts after a bit of cranking and a tap of the gas so it leads me to belive im off a few teeth what way would i turn it ?

Can't really say foer certain, does it sound as if it's fighting itself to start? I'd suggest re-dropping the distributor, so you have a little room to work with either way. Good to hear you got her going.

truck is a pos im gonna get her goin then SHES GONE had it timed right but it was still not running right so we did everything to what bok says still didnt work foooled with it all night didnt get it runnin im gonna get it runnin then im gettin rid of it causeing too many problems since day 1

sounds like injectors are ticking badly its not the lifters i have pressure in fuel rail i cleaned upper and lower intake real good and still my engine idles rough and sh!t i gotta replace coolant sensor,black box that has connector then air hose goin to throttle body, and maybe fuel pump and or fuel filter cuz it runs but poorly it hesitatesd and stuff any suggestions

How far is jersy from alberta? I got a spare motor, it has that crap on it, I can send it..

hey thanksman but i got theorderin to ford this mornin glad to know someone looking out for me plus i aint payin for it the guy who did my trans is since he did a terrible job (he doesnt know it yet lol)

ford needed a number off my door that he insisted was there but it wasnt and he said he couldnt help me so on second thought what i need is the pcv valve gaskets on the top of valve cover i need both of them, and i need the black box thing thats on drivers side and its holster is in the 2 bolts that hold on the throttle cable, and i need the thermostyat sensor its the one on the top side of the thermostat. gimme some prices my area code is 08865 let me know

Mail me a big assed envelope, with sufficent postage, and I'll stuff that stuff in there, I have the box chilliing cuz i pulled off my EGR stuff, the temp sensor I have from my spare intake, PCV get from Wal-Mart, and valve cover gaskets should be available anywhere, for like, 7 bucks.. The stuff i have is your for free if you want it.

That's a Huge box for those tiny parts..So, it's the black box, the temp sensors, ???anything else?

Ok, found it all, had a mild panic attack when the black box was not to be found, but it was right where i left it, in a safe place..Quick note, both temp sensors are blue, due to the previous owner of the motor spray bombed it..the black box is still black..Ummm, not sure how well any of these work, but they were on my truck and she ran ok..Just let me know if you want anything else and it's going out tomarrow..

hey man i really appreicate you helpin me out , trucks getting to the point where its undriveable hopefully these parts will fix some problems so i may fine tune everything else, as for needing any more parts i really dont need anything except that stuff i broke which was the black box with the hose coming out of it for egr i guess and the top coolant temp sensor which is makin my idle go crazy, and from there hopefully when i get that stuff installed chevron stuff will clean what i couldnt in the injectors if not and everything is cool im gonna send out to be rebuilt and probaly have trans done again BY A REAL TRANS PLACE not a mom and pop owned business, i had to laugh when i seen the new ammaco commercial anyways thanks alot man and if you ever need anything gimme a shout

K, they're going out tomarrow...it took 5 days to me, so probably about the same to get to you..If your idle is crazy, what about the IAC?

its cleaned clened it twice it kinda stopped stalling but it does still do it the connector underneath that is round i dissconnected it and it stopped stalling as much as for my transmission it doest really shift after 1st gear i have to rev it out or pund it to 5000 rpm then let off the gas to ahbout 2000 then hit it again and then it shifts i heard somehting about the modulator causeing this and something asbout adjusting a screw insidde it well i stcuk my hand up there and felt no screw unfortunately i think its g0onna have to be rebuilt again

my truck is falling apart guys, transmission is letting go for a 2nd time i think i lost reverse today. mom&pop business rebuilt trans 1st time if you wanna call it that, they replaced o/d drum, o/d cog gear, seals, round skinny metal spacer thing, and modulator, even when i got it back i knew something was wrong #1 reverse was reall weak and it didnt want to shift out of 1st gear i would rev it to 5000 then let off the gas to about 2-3000 then hit it again and it would shift. now when i try to do that it kinda goes like put,put,put,put and black smoke comes out i was told about a screw on the modulator valve i stuck my hand ontop of cat convertor on pass side and felt it and there was no screw all vaccume lines are connected and as of next week my stalling problem will be fixed to some friends on here :)
looks like ive lost faith in town garages :( ill have to take it to aamco and spend another $500+

Sorry to hear about that, didn't you get a warranty for the tranny work? If you are going to have the work done you should read a page written by a very good auto tranny technician.

if it did come with a warranty i dont know about it and seeing the truck sat there 3 weeks before they touched it (reason why engine is messed up form sitting) i wouldnt want them to touch it and when i said to them this is bs that there givin it back to me running like this they said well i kow your good with 2.9s (which i aint) u can do it or leave it here another week then well get to it for $50 an hr my family bought 3 cars from them and they cut me no breaks i just think he didnt want to do it and if he didnt he should have tol me cuz then i would have taken it to aamco and had it back in 2 days there terrible garage like in athat commercial where the guy gets knocked thru the wall when the trans gets thrown at him

Well, it's sent. Told me the box you sent me was a Meduim Package, and they were only accepting small packages, even though it was classified as a small package when you sent it?! WTF?! So, it's in a bubble wrap envelope, and the parts are stuck in the hollowed out centres of the foam pieces you sent me. They also were not taking air mail, due to the huge backlog the grounding created..so, it's sent priority ground. but, it's on it's way.....
