I have a dead fuel pump in my 90 ranger 2.9...since I do not have the resources or equipment to pull out the tank or grind out the bolts for the skid plates I was thinking of using an in-line pump...My question is..can this be done?..Will it draw through a dead in-tank pump? any suggestions would be helpfull..thanks :)

Belive it or not, your truck should have 2 pumps. The in-tank pump is a low pressure pump that fills a reservior/filter and a high pressure in-line pump that sucks from the reservior. I suppose it is possible to install an inline pump prior to the reservior and suck through the stock intank pump. If the tank pump is bad, I've heard it is easier to un bolt the bed, scoot it back, and accedd the gas tank from the top.

In 90 they used a single in tank pump, pull the bed off it's the easiest way to do the pump.

The 90 model do have only one pump. All you need now is a pump and a buddy to help you. I wonder how hard it would be to unbolt and scoot back my body on my BroncoII. hehe.

I just replaced my tank both fuel pumps on my 86...I found sugar in my tank.... whata bummer. I used can of liquid gunk to spray the bed bolts (there should be 6) just remember the 2 long ones go towards the cab. The bed is lightweight, my and my friend lifted it right off. you can break the brake light harness right near the bumper. Undo the gass lid line from the bed and you can lift it right off. I heat a skid plate for mine, but it wasn't a problem. Oh by the way I bought that torque screw thingy for the bed bolts for about $4 and used a normal socketwrench to undo it. If you have any other problems let me know.
