View Full Version : parkingbrake light Lukvdb Sep 02 2001, 03:54pm when i accelerate fast or brake hard my parkingbrake sign comes on. what do i do with this??? thx Adam Baker Sep 02 2001, 04:01pm Hmm, could have a loose connection, or maybe a wire is grounding out. I dont know where the switch for the E-brake light is, but you might want to start by checking that. Ken00 Sep 02 2001, 06:12pm If it is happening when the RABS light comes on it's related to you other problem, it's normal for both of the lights to come on when you have a RABS problem. Black_Jack Sep 02 2001, 07:09pm since you say it happens when you accelerate fast or brake hard - I'd be willing to bet your brake fluid is just low enough that it sloshes below the level the sensor for your "brake" light to come on. I'd top off the fluid and see if that takes care of it. Cory Kevin Pate Sep 02 2001, 07:53pm Lukvdb, its just your Parking Brake light that's coming on, not the ABS, right? The Parking Brake light has come on a few times on my '92 Explorer now, I haven't had a chance to look at it yet, but there should be a black wire that plugs into the emergency brake. When engaged, it makes contact to this wire which sends current to your "dummy light". Check that wire, something must be crossing it or possibly shorting out.... Lukvdb Sep 03 2001, 05:37am i'm gonna check the brake fluid level and see if this is the problem. my abs sign comes on when i start to drive and the parking brake sign comes on when i accelerate or brake. i'll check the wirering 2 thx ill keep you guys informed Lukvdb Sep 03 2001, 06:13am its probably just the brake fluid level ill get a can of oil and fill it up again FireRanger Sep 03 2001, 07:40am Yea, add some brake fluid. It is probably sloshing around is the resivoir. That light is also a low fluid level light and as it sloshes, it is making it think the fluid is too low |
