how hard is it and how much is to do the 4.0 swap, it doesnt sound that bad just getting the engine, trans and computer and wire harness out of older ranger with a 4.0 and you could put it in the b2, but does anyone know how much it would cost to do this and if i'm right about the simplicity, i probably am, but a 4.0 would be just about right for the b2 i think, its a 4x4 by the way and an 86'

I have an 88 BII with a 93 4.0L and Mazda 5 speed.

I should have gotten rid of the ol 2.9L a long time ago.
The 4.0L is mcuh better suited to motivate the 4000# BII.
It is a perfect fit and I can even sell you a wiring harness to make it a plug in swap. I'm building one right now, it is my 4th.

Cost?

I got my 93 4.0L complete with everything for $500
I bought a new Mazda tranny for $1100

A few other little goodies (headers, alternator, etc...) $500

end result:

A mean mother built to tow and 4x4. It's a Jeep beater, I'm talking V8 Jeeps and Explorers. I like the guys with the S-10 Extreme's, they think those trucks are fast, especially when the line up next to a "must be slo" BII. hahahahahaha!
Nope not slow, not any more..........
