Well, I had actually hoped to be writing the detail on the results at this point, but better late than never. I have finally gotten the Kenne Bell project to the point where I am ready to install the blower. I will only do the blower, manifolds, and associated brackets now. The 90mm MAF, 75mm T-Body and 36lb injectors will be a month or so down the road.

In the attached photo page, are some quick pics of the blower on my setup engine. This took alot longer than I originally thought it would, but being distracted by 1000's of other things and general laziness didn't help either!

Blower Pics (http://groups.msn.com/RangerKB/shoebox.msnw?Page=1)

I installed the 255lph fuel pump 2 weekends ago with Brian's help. The Fuel pressure, Boost, and A/F fuel gages went in this past weekend.

Starting Thursday night, I will do the blower this weekend. I will need to pull the upper / lower manifold, as I will be running the Holley Systemax lower. This uses the "stock" style mustang Kenne Bell discharge, which keeps the blower ~1.5" closer to the center line and -should- avoid interference to the throttle and hood cables. I also will need to modify the RHS header to raise the EGR nipple by ~1" to account for the 1" phenolic spacer. Aside from that and bolting the blower and new brackets on, I will only need to modify the fuel system slightly to incorp the Kenne Bell FMU.

I am planning to run the FMU for now, until I get time and cash for the FordChip dyno tune. At that time I will also change the injectors, MAF, and Throttle Body - and eliminate the FMU.

I will post more pictures once I get it on this weekend. It may take a few days, as I will be driving it like mad once the blower is on!

I am 75% done. I hoped to be finished last night, but 9:30 came, I was filthy and had to be at work by 6:30, so I am on my way back out. Hopefully she will fire up in a few hours...

Are you still using the Explorer FEAD? Did you have to get a custom length blower snout made?

Yes, I am using the Explorer FEAD. Check out the pictures in the link on the first post to this thread. I bought a 94-95 Mustang drive extension and had my machinist cut it down to the proper length. I am using Mustang Kenne Bell manifolds with Holley Systemax lower (old style). I did have to "finess" my cowl a little for added clearance.

All that is left is making a bracket to hold the EGR valve and diff. pressure sensor, install coil packs, route vacuum lines, and install fan/shroud and upper cooling hose.

I will start it for the first time tonight!

Hello Todd, I'm checking on you. Have you got the 302 back in and running yet? I may have my 347 in my 98 next week or so. I'm leaning towards a turbo also if I can find room to route the pipes back up. If so I'd sell the KB 2200 if you still need it. That may be a while before I decide that though. Regards,

Hey Don - this is one heck of an old post!

I did not re-install the 302. One thing after another keeps getting in the way. My "new" twisted wedge heads just sit there on the bench next to the old 302 shortblock and all the blower parts and accessories on the shelf. Truck is just rotting in the drive. One day I will get back to it, but at this point, I think I am back to doing the 351W until it is done and forget about putting 302 in for a short term.

As for blowers, I am silly with Autorotor's right now! Some strange circumstances arose which leaves me with my old 1.5L, a 2.2L, two 2.4Ls and a 2.6L! I will either sell of the 2.4Ls or use them if I decide to make kits for the 351W intercooler manifold. We will see what the winter holds for me...

Turbo sounds interesting to me too. I was thinking about that, but I think my next project after (if) I finish the 351W will be a 4.5L Powerstroke V6 from the Ford LCF commercial trucks. If I could find one, I am sure that would be a VERY fun project! I just can't find a used engine right now...

Good to hear from you!

That sounds good, having extra parts is a good problem. I just got my 347 longblock and put it on a stand. The valve covers and accessory brackets are in KS being powder coated. I'm sending off a TB and elbow to port, and a few items I still lack. I bought several piece kits of ARP bolts, and there are a bunch that are the wrong length for an Explorer engine. So I'm going to be a bit slow getting it buttoned up.

On a side note I may have a deal for a front bumper from an XP8, so that got me to plan to paint the engine bay. I'll try a close but different color to see how it turns out, I believe it's called G2, it's a dark red also.

The turbo idea really comes down to how pipes can fit down in the engine bay etc. with all of the stock components. I'm not going to strip the bay to make it fit. I don't want to lose the washer bottle etc, move maybe, you know.

it can be done i swear, i am kinda sad my brother did not want to keep his AC but he never used it and it is his truck. a turbo defiantly makes good power and never needs a belt change.
