    Fuse 17 Keeps Blowing

Yesterday when I was driving I noticed my check engine light was on. I went ot Autozone to run a code, and the OBDII reader wouldn't turn on when my ignition was on. I went to Advance Auto, same thing happened there. So I figured it was a fuse that was blown. I started pulling fuses, and found that fuse 17 (data link connector fuse) was it. I replaced it, drove home, and parked it. Went to drive a couple hours later and it blew again. What could be causing just this one fuse to keep blowing? My battery is stock and my two air compressors take a lot of juice to get going. Could a dying battery be the cause? Or something else?

Besides the DLC, fuse 17 also feeds the cigarette lighter socket in the radio bezel. You may have a problem there (possible short to ground, overload or bad cigarette lighter).

The cigarette lighter isn't even hooked up. I took it apart when I got my radio bezel painted and never put it back together. Do you think the cig ground wire could be touching something it is not suppose to?

Yeah, there is deff metal back there for it to touch, did you wrap the 12v wire in tape, or cap it off some way? it may just be bouncing around and every now and again touchs some metal... Take the bezel off and check it out...
