Will the Flex Fuel flex to anything other than ethanol? I mean could I run some bacardi 151 in it? Could I make my own gas? Obviously I'm half way joking now, but being refered to as "Flex Fuel" you would think they would have predicted more than just Ethanol, the nearst pump of which is 35...
As the title says I'm going to put e85 in my truck for the first time this weekend for a trip home on Wed. Does it matter how much regular gas I have in my tank when I fill up with e85. I have around a quarter left. Standard cab short bed so I have a small tank. Is there any effects of mixing the...
For the sake of science, how about we begin documenting our actual MPG results while under the influence of E85? Anyone game? The process is simple, just list the miles drive, gallons used to fill-up, price per gallon, and maybe note if the previous tank was 87-octane, or little things like...
Anyone ever seen or had a check engine light come on during acceleration then go off after you let off. No codes are set, no freeze frame data, no evidence of the light coming on other than I saw it & made the truck repeat it a couple of times just to check. Truck runs fine, oil pressure is good...
i have done a little looking on here for it, but all i found was from str8 gas to e-85. i really dont run the e-85 in my 01 ranger with 3.0. have noticed i get little worse gas milage with running it. right now i am needing a fuel tank sending unit and only way i can get it is with the pump from...
Starting this week, I am going to put nothing in my truck until the end of March.
was just wondering... would putting AVGas into the tank be bad for the engine? Its just much higher octane right?
i have a 2000 ranger XLT 3.0L. i have never put E85 in it and was wondering if i put it in now would it damage anything hurt the engine?
Intresting article I got from the National Ethanol Vehicle Coalition By Seth Slabaugh of TheStarPress.com The proposed construction of nine ethanol plants in East Central Indiana is happening at a time when the rapidly growing ethanol industry might be headed into a bust period, some...
Since I've switched E85 for the last 3 of my 4 tanks of gas, my truck has been a little difficult to start in the cold mornings. Today was the worst, I spent 5 minutes trying to get it to start and stay running. The battery is new and strong and this problem only started with the switch to E85....
My one local station with E85 got itself all fixed up a short time ago after hurricane ike. Their E85 prices equal the 87-octane. w00t.
Welp i got some E-85 today and im impressed. Truck runs smoother than ever and picks up alot better. This stuff is great! :headbang:
I only had one E85 pump near me and Hurrican Ike damaged the station badly, the station closed for repairs. Closed for a month now. :grrr: I liked being able to fill up occasionally as an engine cleaner.
I have an opportunity to buy a 1999 Ford Ranger with a 3.0L Flex Fuel engine which is bad. I will be looking around the junkyard for a replacement engine. Is there anything on this engine that will identify it as a Flex Fuel engine. From what I understand putting a standard Gas engine in the truck...
ran a full tank of E85 through to clean the engine out and because the sticker shock is a little less though I get about 100 less miles in my 19.5 gallon tank. Anyways I was getting 16 mpg with E85 and a heavy right foot...not too bad considering before the pulley and exhaust I was seeing around 12...
I have a late build (7/98) Ranger w/3.0. What would it take to convert this to run E85 like all the '99 and newer 3.0. Based on color, I have the green/black injectors, which from what I've read are the 24.? lbs. injectors on the E85 Rangers. The Ford dealer told me the MAF are the same as well....
My 3.0L V6 came with Flexfuel and I had never heard of this term before. When my buddy, who is a Fleet Manager for Ford in Sac, CA told me the purpose, I didn't pay it any mind. However, on one drive cross country, I found a station offering E85 and decided to give it a try. I had been getting...
...and on the way to work. Oh, my! First E85 Station open to the public in Western Washington. No more 500 mile weekend trips to Portland Oregon for "supplies" for testing, just roll up, fill up and go! This is going to rock...
Any 155 lph fuel pumps that will work with a 2000 ford ranger with ffv?? thanks yall PS, dont ask me to search cuz i just looked for almost an hour through a bunch of posts and i didnt find anything. thanks.
what mods if any would i have to make in my 98 3.0 2 run ethanol
Hi everyone. I have a Mazda B3000 with 3.0 v6 (Flex Fuel engine according to my manual). A local gas station opened a e85 pump recently so I decided to give it a try today. After driving 50 miles my check engine light came on. It ran smooth, no knocking or jerking, or pinging or anything. ...
............
So I read that 1986 was the first year of the Vulcan 3.0, and that it was designed as an FFV engine. It first got into a Ranger in 1991, according to Wikipedia (I know it's not 100% scientifically reliable, correct me if it's wrong). Does that mean that any year ranger from 1991 to 2008+ with a...
Is E85 corrosive enough to ruin my aluminum fuel cell?
Fords, Dodge or GM? Dodge: GM: Ford:
I have a 99 ford ranger ext 3.0 v6. It has that flex fuel badge thingy on the back, that means I can use e85? Are there any advantages powerwise or economy wise? Let me know, because my dad is a huge proponent of e85 in his yukon XL, so I'd like to take after my dad, but only if I know it if...
Okay, so there is finally a gas station near me that will allow me to begin a trial of E85. :10: So from what I have read here, I should expect decreased MPG for the first full tank due to cleaning the engine out, and then a small pick up in MPG after that, but no where near what I get with...
Anyone know anything about water conversions? I've found a few websites like it but can't seem to find any independent reviews. I"m not dumb enough to believe you really get a 40% increase in fuel economy...but do you think this would help at all? http://www.runyourcarwithwater.com/
...to practically(price wise) convert a 1993 3.0L Ranger to a FFV? I saw BOSS stated the following when discussing the differences. "Injectors, ECU program, Fuel system (stainless and nylon), Ethanol detection circuitry (in the ECU for '02+ or a conductivity meter in the older ones). Not much...
you might find this interesting...my education at work. You can enter your local price of gasoline and your local price of E-85 and it'll tell you what you'll save. It will also tell you what price E-85 will be in order to break even. Another cool thing is you can enter your fuel efficiency for...
that I can find all e-85 stations under. so far i am having to look at several and only one had turned up in SC. makes me want to work on a excel work sheet for state by state... way to much time on my hands.
there is no true answer or solution to the problem and what people should realize is that this a crutch till the next thing comes or newer ways are found to solve the problem. but no lets treat it like wwIII against ourselves http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23057867/
Just curious since here in Central Indy there aren't very many stations that sell it, not really practical to go that far out of the way. Is there anywhere that it is pretty easy to come by?
I wondering for those who run E85, what kind of gas mileage are you getting? Also state is you have an auto or 5 speed and 4x4 or 4x2. What do you usually pay for E85? Thanks.
I dont have a E85 station yet but are the prices as oppsed to gas much different? I know gas is like 2.50 here, utd be nice to see 1.50 for the E lol. let me know
I found out there is a station with e85 in Tallahassee so I decided to try it out. I drove to the beach yesterday and I got about 15mpg which is pretty much the same I was getting with gas. e85 was 2.53 which is 10 cents cheaper than 87octane. It's not really worth it but my truck seems to be...
I don't know the reliability of this since it is a Youtube video from an E85 conversion company. Change2E85 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HuOs1yap8mU&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Echange2e85%2Ecom%2Fservlet%2FPage%3Ftemplate%3DMyths"But they ran 98% of a Chevy Tahoe's 105k miles using E85.[/URL] ...
Just wanting to make sure its safe to run a bottle of Fuel Injector cleaner through when running E85. I'm sure it is but I don't wanna mess something up.
What spark plugs are y'all running with E-85, and what are they gapped at? I have over 50,000 miles on my truck and to my knowledge the spark plugs have never been changed. I've had her since she only had 20,000 miles and I've never changed them so their probably the originals. Figured it was...
so my question is E85 is 2.09 currently around my house, i like it dont get me wrong. i have more power, and i have 0 pinging, but it is sooo much worse on gas. normally i can get about 110 on 1/4 tank (from full to 3/4 mark), now its like 65. my question to yall is would yall try and switch back...
http://www.tiscali.co.uk/motoring/diesel/diesel_fordranger.html what do you guys think
You MUST tell your programmer what type of fuel you are running if you have any desire to run alternative fuels. We can tune for them!!! Most areas ALREADY use E10 and this can cause a lean condition at WOT if your tuner does not know you are using it. The issue is fuel system life (with M100,...
I hydro locked my 3.0L gas engine and was wondering if a flex fuel 3.0L motor can be swapped in?
Has anyone run half and half gas/e85? Just curious because owners manual says can run up to 85% ethanol wondering if there is a middle ground on mileage and power
They just put in a e85 pump in my area and I want to try it out and I have a bamatuner, can I run it with any of my programs or do I have to turn it back to stock to run it? I'm wondering this because I know other tuners just advance the timing so you have to run higher octane, are bamatuners the...
I have a 05 ranger stx but do not know if it is e85 compatable the 8th letter in the vin is a u not a v does that mean i can or can not use the e85 :banghead:
Well I started using E85 today and I am diffently not going back to regular 87. After a couple hours of driving I can already tell a diffrence in the way the engine is preforming. It is much smoother and feels better. Dont know about milage or power but the smoother the better.
Has anyone done the math on how their truck performs as far as which is the cost effective choice, E85 or 87? I've done the math and depending on the price differential and the cost of the fuel itself I end up ahead or behind. I have it in an excel file, but I don't know how to upload it to rps...
Anyone know what the different components are on a FFV 3.0 vs. non-FFV 3.0? I know the injectors are larger, and I assume the computer. Anything else? I have a 98 non-FFV, and if not too expensive I'd like to convert to FFV, as E85 is available here, and I've even contemplated distilling my...
i was just wonderin, after much searching, we cant run our little fourbangers on this e85 mess can we? i still dont trust it too much, but i also figured with such a fuel efficient motor already, we dont much need it... but for curiosity's sake...
