Sub in Pull Down Seats?
I have a 93 Ranger Supercab and I was wondering if anyone has ever taken out the rear pulldown seats and but a 10" or 12" shallow subwoofer in the spot. I have considered whether it would work or not for a while and was just wondering if anyone had tried it before. There is little room as it is so I was just wondering if it would work.

I considered it, but haven't done it. I've seen pics at a local stereo shop. It looked bad, he left the lower plastic trim there. I would take it all out, it just sits there. Pull the seat, the trim , it's just floor and a hole. Tons of room. A box could be made to sit right on the floor.

It seems like it would look really good if done right. Im trying to figure out a place to put new subs where its kind of out of the way. I have a 12" Alpine Type R now and it along with the amp takes up the whole back of the cab.

The easiest and most cost efficient way I can see (I'm 17 and have a job but not a lot of money) is by taking the seats off and leaving that folding piece in and cutting a 10" or 12" hole and just mounting it.

Yea it will work trust me. Would work good actually, and sound pretty good as well. I got 2 10"s straight behind my single cab and sounds good..You would have a bit more room, allowing more space which is good. More space(air) better bass.

Currently doing this right now. lol. Mine will fit in where the seat was plus stick out an additional 1.5 inches. I am going to bolt it down to the same location as the seat did. This is my first time building a box/working with fiberglass. I will let you know how it goes.
I am most likely going with the Pioneer Premier shallow sub. Anyone have experience with this sub.

I think that they are talking about the older pull down seats northshore. someone on here already put one where the seats are in our trucks.
here it is... http://www.rangerpowersports.com/for...d.php?t=212075 ^^^^BTW very clean install^^^^ pretty sure they are talking about the ones where our pockets would be in our rear doors.... i think...

The Chevy S-10 Site is what I was thinking about doing but never had an actual walkthrough. I have the jump seats on the sides of the cabin in my 93 so I might have to just try what that guy did.

Yeah I have my Type R mounted reverse like that and I think it muffles the sound but thats just me. I want the Kenwood Excellon 12" shallow sub it should take up less room. The only hard part is the side panel in that s-10 has the seatbelt mounted on the same inner door panel. But on my ranger the seatbelt is on the bottom and is a different piece all together so there is some metal in the way.

thats something i have considered doing. one option would be to have the subs mounted inverse. that way you could use all of the space in the box (fiberglass would be best) and you can show off the magnets. this can also make the sub louder, depends on whether the sub can perform in free air though
