AC to Air comressor

anyone done this or is it possible with the rangers AC unit
i have a 94 ranger 4x4 with air and was wondering if i could do this without having to put another AC off an older vehicle.

He's asking if he can convert his stock a/c compressor to compress air. Answer : I have no idea, I've only used Sandens and Yorks.

Yes you can.

You would need a an oiler on the air inlet. This is why most people use the yorks and such.

are the Yorks your talking about the old ACs off older trucks like the old fords???

Yorks are the older piston-style compressor. They have an actual crank case and wont spew oil everywhere. The newer style compressors are scroll compressors, sort of like a supercharger. They pump the oil throughout your AC system. If you can figure out the oiling issues, converting an AC compressor over to an air compressor is really easy. Put a filter on the low (suction) hose and route the high side to a tank.

Could even use an oil separator on the high side and route a hose so it drains back into the suction side some how..
