Ford V6 Challenge - Times Inside
As some know, Micah, Doug, Gerry and myself went to Michigan for the Ford V6 Challenge this past weekend. First of all I have to say that Fred and the guys at Livernois Motorsports are/were super nice. Their facility is awsome. Saturday was the show and shine along with some dyno runs. After 2 Rangers popping head gaskets on it, I was kind of scared to put mine on!
Well the time came and once the pull started it only made it to about 4500-4800rpm and started acting up, we stopped and checked everything and tried again but this time was even worse. Even though things were not right with the pull it made 259rwhp and 391rwtq. The dyno was a "Mustang" dyno and is one of the most acurate chassis dyno there is. The guy at Livernois told us that compared to a DynoJet (which will generaly show approx 15-20% higher numbers), there is nothing more acurate. So having that in mind compared to my old engine I was very happy with the increase in power even with the thing not running right. Now to the track. The dyno problem was taken care of but I now was back to running the stock rev limiter, so I was not able to step it up to see if it would go faster. First round of qualifying I ran a 12.38. I skipped second round and was going to do third but due to weather we didnt have a third so I ended up number 2 qualifyer in the heads up class. In first round of eliminations, and the last of the event, I ran a new best of a 7.620@88.09mph (1/8th) and ended the run at a 12.263@102.89mph with a 1.5360ft! All in all, the weekend was a blast but did suck with the rain ending the race early.Jimmy

Awesome numbers there Jimmy!!
It looks like I missed a good one but it sounds like you really did well. Too bad mother nature had to break things up a bit early. Keep up the good work, those torque numbers are very impressive. I bet it'll top 400rwtq with a little tuning/tweaking. Indeed, an awesome example of 4.0L power!!!

It's hard to imagine a Ranger hitting the 11's, but it looks like you've got a great chance of doing it Jimmy. Awesome for a 4.0 powered truck.
On second thought, that would be awesome for a V8 powered truck.
